Have you ever worked on a project for a really long time and the right before it’s about to launch you have a bunch of weird and unexpected feelings? I’m totally dealing with this right now, because next week I’m going to launch my brand sparkly new website! It’s something that has been in the works since the summer, and now we are putting the final touches on it before it’s ready to be live on the world wide web. A big part of me is SO super excited about my beautiful new site that my amazing friends Heather Pennell and Azalea Moen have worked so tirelessly on. But, there is also a smaller part that is nervous as hell about what people will say and think when they see it.
I started organizing craft fairs about 8 years ago. Sometimes I can’t believe how long it’s been, and I honesty have lost count of how many Make It shows we have had (34-ish?!?). I’m so proud of the show and all the Makies who have been able to make a living doing what they love because of it. It’s really an incredible feeling to be able to help people do what they are most passionate about, and I know organizing Make It is exactly what I’m meant to be doing in the world.
In the last year or so, I’ve changed the focus of my blog from business tips, to sharing my own story. At first it felt very uncomfortable to open myself up and become more vulnerable, but in my heart I knew it was the right thing to do. I know how much I appreciate hearing people’s journeys because there is so much I learn from them. When someone is authentic about what they are actually going through (good n’ bad) it has a way of making me feel that I’m not alone and other people have felt the same way.
The decision to create a new website is because it felt like a better fit to share my own personal perspective and point of view. Blogging under the Make It University brand just didn’t feel like a proper fit anymore. Make It U isn’t going anywhere, and if you are a student you will have full access to all the courses, but all my posts will be transferred over to the new site. Right now, I’m designing and revamping the program to make it ever better!
I can’t thank you enough for all of your support and heartfelt comments. I feel so honoured to be able to help some of you with your entrepreneurial journeys too. If you have a testimonial about what you have learned from either a Make It University course, or from my posts I would absolutely love it if you could share a couple sentences. As I mentioned, launching something new is never easy and I’ve had butterflies flying around inside of me for weeks! I know that anything new or different can often cause this type of reaction. But, I also know if I trust my heart and do what feels good, the outcome will always be positive. Plus, sometimes you just have to launch because that’s the only way you can make something better. I don’t think anyone ever feels 100% ready.
