How to make magic happen

It’s really easy for me to get stuck in the cycle of always doing. I’m a pusher, a promoter and a hardcore hustler. I love ideas, but what really gets me excited is making them happen. This is highly effective for being an entrepreneur and probably the main reason I’ve never had a job since graduation. Running the Make It show allows for me to tap into my hustling skill set, and create a positive-happy-good-vibes hype storm!

Making stuff happen is great because you can get big results really fast. It also can become addictive when you try a bunch of techniques out, and then figure out what is most effective. What I’ve learned (sometimes/mostly the hard way) is it’s equally important to allow things to organically happen. To stop doing, sit back and allow for the natural flow of life to take over. Last November, I had the incredible opportunity to see Oprah live in Seattle for a 2 day workshop. I’m a HUGE fan and grew up watching the Oprah Winfrey Show with my mom while she made dinner and I did my homework. She was the one who really made me realize that dreams could come true just by believing in the possibility.

In Seattle, Oprah said something that completely transformed my perception. She told a story about how when she first started in television 30 or so years ago, she was at a dinner party at a very successful colleague’s large and fancy home. After dinner, Oprah was standing in the kitchen alone staring out the window into the backyard. She remembers vividly seeing 4 beautiful oak trees and telling the Universe that one day she would also like to have 4 oak trees in her own backyard. She said the moment was profound and lucid, but after she set the intention she let go of it.

Fast forward 20 something years, and Oprah is standing in her own kitchen and looking out the window of her Montecito mansion. She has a transcendent moment when she realizes that outside her window aren’t 4 oak trees, but over 3000! The Universe had an even bigger dream for Oprah than she could have dreamed herself. She claims that she hadn’t thought back to the the moment when she wanted 4 oak trees for herself but everything that had happened in her life had brought her to the moment where she is today. She manifested all those magnificent trees without being conscious of it.

Creating your own destiny through hard work, discipline and stamina is super important, but there’s a whole other energy that is working on your behalf simultaneously. In my own life, I’ve had many situations where the outcome is so much bigger and better than I could have ever thought possible. Sometimes the hardest part about this is feeling worthy and ready for the possibilities and changes. Whenever I struggle with this, I often think back to Oprah’s oak tree story and I remember that it’s not just Jenna that is making stuff happen.

The key in all of this is feeling the strong desire of what you truly want and then letting go of the outcome. Ugh, this can be the worst! Not having control of the result is tough for hustlers. We like to have a vision and then do all the little things to make a reality. Boom. But it’s ok because you can practice and become better at letting go. Soon you will realize how many amazing things come your way that you could have never even imagined. Life will become more and more like a magical miracle wonderland…unicorns may or may not be included!

If you have a comment, question or idea I would love for you to share it below xo.
