I hope your 2013 is off to a sparkly start! I am thrilled to be back in front of my trusty MacBook Air and ready to shift this year into high gear. There is so much I want to do to help you be super successful doing what you love.
To kick off the year, I went to beautiful Cabo San Lucas for a week of rest and relaxation. As a fairly seasoned backpacker, I was always a turned off by the idea of going on an all inclusive pre packaged vacation. I thought I would go crazy without having enough to do. Too much down time has always been a bit terrifying for me.
One thing I have learned is that reflection and quiet time is SO key to attaining success later on. If you run around like a crazy person all the time there is no room and space for new ideas and inspiration to come in. When you turn the volume of your life down a notch, your mind is quiet enough to reengage with the creative flow. While I was relaxing in the sun it was incredible how many things popped into my head! I never felt bored because my brain was constantly downloading fresh new ideas.
I feel very fortunate that I had the time and financial ability to go to Mexico for a week at the beginning of this year. It was something that definitely wasn’t possible when I first started out on this creative entrepreneurial journey 10 years ago. The good news is that you don’t have to go anywhere sunny and hot to get very similar results.
Something you can do every single day to reconnect with your creative flow is simply close your eyes and focus on your breathing. Getting quite and disconnecting from your busy brain will allow ideas and inspiration to come flying in!
I know this is easier said than done (especially in the beginning) but trust me it gets easier and easier every day. Even if you can only do it for a couple minutes at a time, you will begin to see the magic sooner than you think.
