Tuesday night was a big night for me because it was the screening party for #MakeItTV. I was excited and terrified because it was not only the first time I was showing the episodes to the public, but also the first time I would be seeing them myself. The edits took longer than planned so I picked up the USB stick on my to the event. Talk about down to the wire! There were so many nervous butterflies fluttering around inside of me, but I was also really thrilled to see what the final edits of all 8 interviews looked like.
The audience that filled MakerLabs was made up of my community of Makies, close friends and other lovely supporters. So many of them had been with me throughout this journey and it was such and honour to be able to have something to finally share with them. It felt almost surreal to not only watch #MakeItTV for the first time, but to also have an audience there to experience it with. Last week when I had seen some rough cuts I had felt very self conscious about how I looked and sounded, but this time I was focused on so much more than myself that I hardly noticed my machine gun laugh and head bobbing! The music, filming and thoughtful edits allowed each episode to be visually beautiful and interesting. They turned out better than I could have ever hoped for, and I’m so grateful to everyone at Blue Chip Productions who worked so hard on #MakeItTV.
After all of the episodes were shown, I gave a little speech and explained how much the support of the community made this all possible. I could have never ever done this project on my own and it all came together because others believed so strongly in my message. Many people came up to me after and said how excited they were about #MakeItTV and how much they were inspired by each artist’s story. This fills my heart with joy and I tried my best to stay present and receive all the love and positivity. It felt amazing to know that what I had created matters to people and that it can help to spread the message that it is possible to do what you love and make a living.
So now for some exciting news! #MakeItTV is now available to be viewed online! I will be launching a new episode each week for the next 2 month leading up to the Make It Shows. The first episode is my interview with the fabulous Katherine Huie of Foe and Dear. She has such a wonderful story and I know you are going to love this episode.
I graciously ask of you to share this episode of #MakeItTV like crazy and subscribe to my YouTube channel. Your support of the handmade movement and Make It means the absolute world to me. I cannot thank you enough!
Sparkly #MakeItTV love,
Jenna
