I had the honour of being selected by Etsy to come down to their gorgeous head office in Brooklyn last week to be a part of an exciting new pilot program, Etsy Educators. When I received the invitation I was beyond trilled because working with Etsy is pretty much my biggest crafty dream! They have always been a huge inspiration for me and one of the main reasons I was motivated to start organizing craft shows in the first place. I have always admired how Etsy has developed and fostered such a thriving DIY community. It is also incredible to see how they have flourished over the past 7 years with over 15 million users and 850,000 sellers!
I arrived at Etsy HQ in the morning and was very excited to meet the other 15 amazing women from all over Canada (well it was really just me and Jessika from oh my! handmade goodness but we represented very well!) and the US who had also been selected to become Etsy Educators in their communities. Every single one of these women was a total crafty rockstars and it was amazing to hear their stories and all the success they have had. Danielle, Nickey and Michelle are the beauties and brains behind the Etsy Educator program and were incredible at teaching us all how to best teach Etsy success to our communities. There were also numerous Etsy staff who dropped in throughout the day to tell us all about legal, payment, product development and other exciting things happening in the company. I even got to sit next to the COO, Adam at lunch and had a great chat with him about how shows like Make It compliment the Etsy community so well.
It was an INCREDIBLE day finished off by the whole group eating the most delicious pizza at a restaurant with a panoramic view of Manhattan. I felt so privileged to have been included in such a wonderful program and can’t wait to start teaching Etsy success to my lovely community! My goal is to create a super awesome online Etsy working shop that will be launching on Make It University mid summer. Stay tuned for more details!
So my exciting announcement is, I am officially and Etsy Educator and I even have the badge to prove it!!
