For the past week I’ve had the incredible privilege to be at a yoga retreat in the Costa Rican jungle. Having a full week to immerse myself in yoga has been such an amazing experience, and I feel so blessed for the opportunity to be able to be fully present and alive in a gorgeous natural setting. I pushed myself further physically than I have in a while, and it was unbelievable to see what doing yoga twice a day and eating vegetarian food will do for your body and soul! The retreat centre I was at was on top of a mountain range overlooking the ocean, and covered by green canopy with a constant melody of insects and animals. There were many moments when it felt surreal to be there. This part of the world is so abundant with life and it’s incredible and beautiful to see. There’s a constant energy that hums with vitality. At times I had to pinch myself because I felt so lucky to have a business and life that allows me the opportunity to travel. I’m truly able to live my dream.
While at the retreat I did a lot of personal reflection. I reflected upon what it was like at the beginning of my entrepreneurial journey. I started my first business, Booty Beltz 11 years ago when I was still a student at the University of Alberta. I was 22, had no idea what I was doing, and made some very costly mistakes along the way. When I think back, I remember longing for someone to just tell me what to do so that I could grow my business and finally live the life I always dreamed about. This life included being able to travel around the world, do work I’m passionate about and be financially independent.
Over the last 7 years, I’ve been able to grow the Make It Show to what it is today by working hard, learning as much as possible and making connections.
