How to speak in front of 1200 people

by Jenna | Feb 4, 2014 | Sparkly Love

Last September, Chandler and I went to PechaKucha in Vancouver, which is held every month at the iconic Vogue Theatre. It’s a global event where 12 speakers are asked to share 20 slides but only have 20 seconds per slide to get their idea across. I was so...

I’ve been off social media since the start of th I’ve been off social media since the start of this year. I was planning to avoid it all altogether for 2022, but I felt inspired to rejoin today because I wanted to celebrate International Women’s Day. Now more than ever it’s critical we join forces to empower, elevate and inspire one another.

I also realized I was avoiding social media because I didn’t know what I wanted to share anymore. I felt uncomfortable sharing “too much” about my son Arlo, and without having any Make It shows to promote I wasn’t sure what my purpose really was on here anymore. Plus, my life is pretty routine these day and all that I take photos of are my baby and my cat!

Recently I realized what my purpose can be on social media. I’m going to devote my platform to sharing insight and wisdom on entrepreneurship. I’ve picked up so much information not only through my own experience, but also from learning from some of the best teachers. I believe there is a new way of doing business that taps more into feminine energy and uses pull/yin energy. I’m so passionate about this subject because I believe more women (especially mothers) need to share their voices so we can learn and grow from one another.

Follow along if this idea inspires you, and please share with any female entrepreneurs who might find this helpful.

Baby Arlo is 5 months today! How the heck did that happen??!

I’ve decided to stay off social media for 2021 so I can focus more on some creative projects and be more present for Arlo. I also plan to write more, so if you’re interested, follow along on jennaherbut.com. Happy New Year friends! Let’s make it a magical one 🌟

My heart goes out to those who couldn’t be with their loved ones this year. It was the first Christmas I didn’t get to be with my parents, and it felt really strange. Anyways, there’s light at the end of the tunnel for an amazing 2021! We can do this. Merry Christmas friends. Stay safe and spread kindness 😘❤️🎄
I shared this on @makeitshow and figured I share i I shared this on @makeitshow and figured I share it here too. Makes me so sad 😔 Looking at these photos is both heartbreaking and inspirational. It’s incredibly sad that we’re not allowed to see our friends and family for the holidays. Really, when you think about it, how f*cked up is that?!

This was the weekend we booked out the PNE to host our epic holiday show. Any other year, we’d all be together talking, laughing, shopping, appreciating the Makies, drinking beer, eating from the food trucks. All the good things that one does at Make It. Instead we’re at home - maybe all alone. It’s sad to be this disconnected from community. We’re not designed to live this way.

The reason I find these photos equally upsetting and hopeful, is because we WILL come back together! We will talk, laugh, shop, admire, touch, hug, kiss, drink and eat together again at Make It. And when we do, it will be all the sweeter. We’ll savour each moment a little bit longer.

Thank you for all your ongoing support of Make It, and the Makies throughout the year. It means so much. Please make sure to also shop direct from hundreds of Makies online makeitshow.ca/Makies. If you’re interested in following my personal journey of being an entrepreneur, and now a new mom check out my IG @jennaherbut.

Until we see each other again, take care of yourself and each other. We miss you dearly❤️

Sparky love + Happy Holidays,
Jenna
